Top 4 Facebook Fanpage Timeline Complaints & What You Can Do To Improve Your Experience!

Hey folks, just a quick note to let you know that I have been asked to be guest blogger for an article by Cherie DeBrule of St. Paul Marketing Team.

w00t!!

My topic of choice was: Top 4 Facebook Fanpage Timeline Complaints & What You Can Do To Improve Your Experience!

Facebook fanpages (and all the recent changes) have been a huge topic of much discussion recently, so it was a timely response to many of the concerns I have seen coming from people via email, blog comments, and phone calls into my office.

I have written this in response to my most recent installment about the new Facebook business fanpage migration to Timeline (which you can read here if you missed it).

Come over here to see my new guest blog and make sure you leave a comment so I know what you thought!

I really enjoyed your guest post. I’m not familiar with Timeline yet because I’m still heading a one man protest against it at my place. However, you really put it best, and it’ s a principle I try to stick to with a lot of other things- carve out a small window of time to acquaint yourself with it. It’s amazing what I’ve figured out by doing this with other marketing issues, sometimes it just slips my mind. Thanks for the helpful post.

Hi hi Richie,

So nice to meet you! :-) Thanks for visiting my site and reading my guest blog about the new Facebook Timeline for fanpages! I’m happy that you found it to be an enjoyable post and one that was also helpful!

I know you’re not alone in your Timeline protest. Actually, the reason I even addressed these 4 complaints about Facebook Timeline is because I had gotten so many emails, calls, and instant messages from people who were genuinely concerned about the change to Timeline. I wanted to address the concerns in as constructive a way as possible. The truth is that if we want to use tools like Facebook, we must align to how it all works because we have no way to go back into time and keep the old. – It’s just not feasible…so the best cure is knowing what it does so we can get on with our business!

Please stay in touch, Richie. Let me know if I can help with anything! You’re welcome to reply to me in comments here on my blog – or – you could inbox me directly if you prefer.

Make sure to come and visit again soon! Have an excellent rest of your week too!

Best regards,

Cat Alexandra

You’re welcome!

Yeah, it’s definitely a good thing to know where to turn for help. So many robots and spammers out there that we do well to tap into some community with people who care. Feel free to peruse my comment sections too – I know you’ll find all kinds of great people to hook up with who are also experts on other subjects!

Hope you have a rad weekend!

Come again soon!

Thanks so much for that, Adrienne! I appreciate you sharing this with your associates!

The points I covered came directly from emails, phone calls, and IMs that I received from people who have expressed reservations about the new Facebook Timeline on their fanpages. I have been seeing an influx of this kind of messages coming in, so it just made sense to cover the biggest concerns all in one place!

I’m not sure they set me up to respond to comments at St. Paul Marketing Team’s blog, but I’ll check into that!

Have an amazing and sunshiney (hopefully!) day!

Thanks for this info, Cat. I am most definitely not a social media expert, by any mean, so I can use all the info I can take about the subject.

Seems that you know everything about facebook, I’ll know where to go if I have a question.

Thanks and have a great day!

You’re most certainly welcome, Sylviane!

I have been very lucky and blessed to get so much help with social media over the past year due to some tremendous training and my MLSP community. It’s a lot of fun and I love to just share what I have found out with others since this is such a hot topic of interest for people in our current times.

So happy you enjoyed the info! Hope you’re having an incredible weekend!!

Hello Catherine,

I just read your guest post! Nice detailed work that shows people the correct way to do it. But let me just add a note. The problem for every complaint is not because they don’t understand how it works. The same situation comes to every other marketing area that people struggle. My opinion is that most people want everything the “easy way”, they don’t strive to learn and do a research about it and they also don’t ask themselves the right questions!!! So, they never get the correct answers! Who did you ask to create a template for fbook timeline and see how it works? I guess you did it by your self! I am talking about “GO BIG” or go home…

Thanks for sharing :)

Hey John,

Thanks so much for the awesome feedback on my guest post! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

I think that you may indeed be right about what you are suggesting with people saying that they don’t get it. We’ve grown up in a time where people expect everything to be convenient, free, & easy. lol

I love your tough love approach to the facts! We could all do with a bit more common sense applied to life and business these days if you ask me!

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!!

Hey Andrew,

So glad you enjoyed this article! Thanks for letting me know!

You’re not alone in your feelings about Facebook. I have been hearing from quite a number of people who feel the same way you do about it! I was not thrilled to have to re-learn the site either, but it’s not too bad once you get the hang of it! ;)

Hope you’re having an awesome weekend!!

Great post Cat. I think a lot of people are intimidated by Facebook Timeline so you’ll be putting a lot of minds at rest with these words. Thanks for a great read. Well done on the Guest Posting.

Oh, you got that right! I’ts Facebook’s game and they’re just letting us play… for now… by their rules. So you just have to go with it. Not much choice. And forget “getting it right”. Far as I heard, Facebook has already changed the size of the profile image. So much for everyone out there trying to size things precisely! It’s just another marketing egg and we need to keep it in perspective and just make it work as we can. Thanks for your action items, they are always helpful!

Hey Carol Lynn,

Always so great to see your comments here!

It sounds like we have the same attitude about Facebook! Resistance to what they are doing is futile. We either are onboard or not, but that doesn’t change anything about how it all works. As with any other situation in life where we want to see circumstances changed, the quickest way to achieve a change is for us to change (or in this case “optimize”) ourselves!

I am glad you appreciated the action items! I always want this to be as constructive as possible for all!

Have a spectacular day!

Another great post Cat. The Facebook Timeline at first i was not mad about and didn’t see the point of the change. But after reading many posts on the Time line change i have come to realize the great potential it can offer businesses. It allows so much more room to be creative and have some fun. Some interesting complaints that have come up, thank you for giving us your feedback.

Hey Sarah,

Great to see you! :)

I’m glad to hear you’re embracing the new Timeline! It’s always a little inconveniencing when we need to revamp how we do things that are working for us in a way that we’re used to. – But I think you are absolutely right about the newfound opportunities to engage with our fans and business enthusiasts with the new Facebook Timelines. Plus, they just look really cool when they’re done nicely!

Thanks for checking out my blog post and sharing your thoughts and insights! You’re most certainly appreciated!!

Hope you’ve been having a great week! Can’t believe how quick it just flies by! lol

Hi Cat, finally got over there and added my 2 pence worth.

none of us really like these changes when they come along, but at the end of the day its a free service that we can use to grow our business and the lists of people we do it with.

If people want to object then it really comes down to 2 options.
Use it and change with the times or don’t use and struggle alone.

I will be creating time and changing with the times as its a great service that FREE.

Thanks Cat, have a great weekend :)

Hi Barry,

Great to see you, thanks for checking out this blog about the Timeline fanpage complaints. You and I definitely share a similar vantage-point on the matter. At the end of the day, we should always be reasonable in our expectations, especially when dealing with “free” types of programs. There’s only one guarantee in life and that is “change.” – So we best be ready for it!

So glad you’re up for the challenge and always willing to be a self-responsible professional online!

Thanks for the dose of commonsense in this comment, Barry! It’s one many could do well with accepting and heeding from!

Have a most excellent weekend!

Cat ;)
