Grow your business by including an internet marketing success strategy

internet marketing success strategy

Modern Business

Why should you use an internet marketing success strategy?

Twenty-first century business owners are faced with a climate of fierce competition in virtually every niche that exists. Of course exceptions exist, but they are few.

As a communication and targeted marketing tool, the internet provides a way to expand your business’ reach, but as you develop your internet marketing success strategy, you should work to differentiate your offerings from those of your competitors.

Implementing an internet marketing success strategy is a sure way to create business posture and capitalize on potential opt-in traffic. Think of how many people use the internet to search offers and research products and services. Opt-ins are highly valuable because over time, as a result of receiving your newsletter and offers, they may buy from you.

The following 3 bullets will help you develop your internet marketing success strategy.

  • internet marketing success strategy

Tailor your approach like a fine suit.

Tailor-fit your approach to your ideal customers.

The first area of precedence is devoting time to develop an internet marketing success strategy that answers your prospective buyer’s questions and addresses their needs. Keep it simple, concise, and value-oriented in order to capture their interest.

By optimizing your content to the intended reader, you’ll generate targeted, quality traffic. A top way to generate this kind of traffic is through on-page SEO (previously discussed here, in case you missed it) and keyword rich content. Other areas to consider would be advertising campaigns and possibly PPC (pay-per-click) ads.

  • Finesse your sales process.

A strong sales process is essential to any internet marketing success strategy because it is where you will see the benefit to the work and preparation you have put forth. It will also ensure that each potential sale is maximized.

ake into consideration how you approach your prospects and customers who visit your site. Here’s a short checklist of items to include in your sales process development:

  1. Do you have a defined message directed to them?
  2. Is your message clear and persuasive to the visitor?
  3. Will your visitor be prompted to take the action you are directing them to take?

All of these things should be carefully considered when you are designing your ideal internet marketing success strategy. For instance, if you’re simply trying to get your prospect to opt-into a newsletter, you want to be sure that your message elicits that  activity. If your intention is to elicit the purchase of a product then your message will need to correspond with that activity.

There are techniques and methods proven to help you drive traffic to your site which you may convert at a high level if you refine your sales process. (The best training I have found on this subject to date can be seen right here.) Tapping into these methods and taking the time to finesse your sales process could prove to pay off in dividends if you just take some action! If you choose not to take action, the inevitable result will be that the sales will go to another marketer who is applying these techniques and methods

  • internet marketing success strategy

    Humanize your online strategy.

    Bridge the gap.

Marketing online is a different game.

Traditional marketing with mediums like print, radio, and television differ in vast ways from what we see in internet marketing success strategies. There are indeed unique challenges to the traditional business owner who is looking to integrate an internet marketing success strategy in order to enhance their reach and efficiency.

The key element to consider here is bridging a human touch interaction into the technical process.

Recall the last time you visited a store. Surely you were no doubt greeted or helped by a real human being who was most likely a store employee.

And did you know that over 90% of face to face communication is done via non-verbal cues?

That’s a huge component to a face-to-face sales interaction!

This human-touch is a vital consideration point as you’re developing an effective internet marketing success strategy. By bridging the gap of human contact in a virtual world, you will possess a competitive advantage against your competitors.

Through the integration of an internet marketing success strategy which bridges this “human touch” into your sales process, you will differentiate yourself from those who present only a one-sided method of communication with their prospects.

If you’re reluctant to implement an internet marketing success strategy, consider what each potential prospective buyer may be worth to you over one year.

  • If you add one new buyer per week, will your earnings be enhanced significantly?
  • If you capture those  sales, will your business standing be improved?

Your answer is yes, then it makes perfect sense to begin developing an internet marketing success strategy for your business!

Great post Cat,

I can remember when I was new to the online world how disorganized I was. lol I missed schedules and forgot to do so many things. That’s when it came to me that having a strategy may sound hard at first but it’s the best thing you can do if you’re serious about growing your business and bringing it up to the next level.

Keep it up! Thanks for sharing! :)

Hey Pete,

Oh I know exactly what you mean about being disorganized in the beginning. I, too, was completely overwhelmed. Best advice I have to newbies these days is EXPECT to be overwhelmed, stay patient, get organized!

Glad you enjoyed the article and also that you have hung in there to see yourself to some measurable success, that’s what it’s all about!

Enjoy your weekend!

So very true Catherine! Lots of people hop onto the internet wagon thinking it as a quick fix way to business success anonymously. Face to face marketing (and its online equivalent) still rules! Totally agree with your article! :D

Hi Carlton,

Nice to meet you!

I share your sentiment about doing business anonymously. It just doesn’t seem feasible to do it this way! I’m sure there are exceptions, but for most of us, it’s just not going to work that way. In this modern day, people are seeking transparency. They want to be able to research who they are going to do business with. I have found that many people are looking for the maximum value they can achieve for their spent dollar. They’re more apt to do business with individuals who are delivering real value and a personal touch. I see it everyday in my own business. I have many people who come to me “choosing me” as their business associate or counsel because they like the fact that I’m here in the open sharing and engaging with others.

I think that anytime we can insert the human element into the process so that people don’t feel that they’re entering into a 1-sided relationship, they can feel more comfortable. Where there is comfort, there is trust. And as we both know, people buy from (or do business with) people they trust and like. :)

Thanks for checking out my blog and sharing your perspective. Please stay in touch and come back again soon!

Hey Cat,
You put it great!
In order to achieve the results you seek a strategy is needed. In fact, the process is similar, no matter what you you promote online: provide quality content as a solution for some specific needs, promote it, build a list and here’s the kicker, a relationship with it and you’ll start seeing results.

Since in a niche there are a lot of people who bassically seek the same outcome, the difference is made by the human touch : how well you resonate will people and how much you care about them. In my country there is a popular expression: the man makes the place sacred- in other words, your energy, enthusiasm and willingness to help create a successful/profitable business. I don’t see it as a competion rather than a challenge for growth and creativity :)

Thanks for sharing your tips Cat. Keep up the great work!

Wish you a splendid day,

Hi Radu,

So glad you approved of the article! :)

You’re definitely right, too! There are several tasks to manage at once in order to optimize our results here. This is the part we need to be patient with ourselves about as we’re learning to successfully weave the strands together. I was pretty mystified about it all in the beginning. As with all good things in life, it requires a bit of time and attention to develop the skill.

I love that expression you shared: “The man makes the place sacred.” What great wisdom and truth right there. Thanks for sharing that, I know it to be true and will certainly use this in life!

I also love your attitude on “competition” because I see it to be very similar to my own viewpoint. Life and business always present challenges for growth and creativity. When we’re willing to rise to the challenge as a personal challenge, rather than one “against” something or someone, we are able to come from a point of authentic sharing and growth which is more attractive than the point of beating another…or that’s at least how I feel about it. ;)

Thanks for sharing your perspective, Radu! Hope you’ve had a fine weekend!

When I first came to the online world, I was so stuck on getting the technical stuff right, that the actual funnel and marketing strategy was really an afterthought!

As I have adapted and learned (the hard way!!) – having a strategy is key and you lay out some very important facts here like the call to action in a blog post or sales letter.

Very interesting post,

Hi Nicky,

It’s fun to hear the early beginnings anecdotes from successful marketers and bloggers like yourself. I have found that early struggles are always a common thread, along with feelings of being overwhelmed and trepidation. These common denominators are what underly the process for all – if I may be so brash in assuming.

I have found that the cream which rises to the top of the online world is different from the rest in some specific ways. Those who rise have done what you have done: they’ve adapted themselves to the online process. Some learn early, some learn late – or “the hard way,” as you put it.

It’s all about learning and growing. The learners inherit the earth! :)

I’m glad to know ya, Nicky. Thanks for sharing your perspective here and so glad you found the article interesting!

Ryan Biddulph January 12, 2012 at 8:44 pm

Hi Cat,

Digging your tips buddy ;)

Targeting your audience and bridging the gap are beyond critical. Gotta focus on whomever wants, what you have to offer.

I played secret gifting guy for a long, long time. Then I opened up, and shared my opportunity. Then I began targeting my content with keywords. Then I added more of a human touch.

I baby-stepped it, but I am learning more each day. It’s fun. I hated IM in the beginning, now I enjoy tweaking, testing, rinsing, repeating. It’s rewarding, fulfilling and quite prospering when you learn how to roll with it, and simply enjoy the experience of connecting with others and helping them improve their lives.

Persuasion. Get really good at simply directing someone to a certain end. By power, not by force. This is why I like to comment extensively. I know most who click on my blog link through another blog have been pre-persuaded. This makes my calls more attractive, because we are always selling ourselves, whatever we are doing. Your signature is on everything you do, whether you pen one or not.

Thanks for sharing Cat!!

Hey Amigo,

Great to know you are enjoying the new articles! :)

I kind of look at what we’re doing here online as if we’re matchmakers. It’s smart to look into what people want and help match up the info that answers the tough questions. I’ve found it’s tough to be incognito if we’re doing it right, too!

I’m so happy that you have found that being secret gifting guy wasn’t as effective as being Ryan Biddulph. I have been reading your blog for awhile now and have found that one of the most intriguing aspects to everything you share is that it comes from an authentic sharing place inside of you. This is so compelling and very attractive. It’s no wonder to me that you’ve set a standard in the cash gifting arena by adding the RB touch to all you do.

Thanks for being you and being real. I’ve learned a lot just by being a lil fly on your wall. lol

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Oh heck Cat, I openly admit to not having a clue when I first came online. I would read one piece of information and think okay, that’s all I have to do and soon find out that was just a small piece of the pie.

Years later and an understanding that this is a real business you’re involved in, strategies, plans, goals, etc. have all been put into place now.

Don’t be like me, clueless when venturing into the online world. You explained it so nicely here. Have a strategy so you can put into affect what needs to happen to move your business in the right direction.

Hey Adrienne,

It’s so cool to hear the real-deal skinny on how it all came to be from someone in your position. I was just saying to Nicky Price that there seem to be distinct common denominators in the success curve for all. None of us are impervious to this learning curve it seems. Some of us catch on sooner than later, but what seems to happen is that at some point it clicks, so long as we’re open, aware, and learning along the way.

I would love to see more people skip to the head of the class quicker than I started to emerge in my process. :) So glad you enjoyed the hops here! Thanks for sharing a bit about your early steps. I think it helps to make this seem more do-able for folks when they can know that we all had to start somewhere. lol

Hope you had a fab weekend!

most of the time great internet marketing ideas don’t achieve success because of they are unable to deliver to masses. Actually implementation of a great idea is equally important for success. To reach to a maximum audience you need to be simple, effective and interesting.

Sorry for my absence, but wow this was awesome. Marketing is so powerful and what you say could either make you successful or have people running for the door. When I started with my blog, I was no where in the place I am today and it was a learning experience I would gladly do all over again. People are the key to everything we do and our communication with them is priceless. How we deliver our message, the wording used and our approach is everything.

At my day job I can see that with corporate marketing from large brands and they way they push their products. They put their partners first and make sure they build solid relationships first. They meet their needs to help solve their problem and they get a customer each and every time.

Wow! This post is so filled with wisdom, Cat! Your first point is a key one — it’s a reminder that it’s ineffective to market to a general audience. We have to be clear about our goals.

Your second point then had me thinking about how important monitoring is, so we can see what’s working and what isn’t — then “finesse” appropriately. =)

I especially love how you conclude by talking about the human touch. The most personal connections I’ve made online have been those that I’ve chatted with on Skype for example. The Internet doesn’t have to be impersonal like many think!

I think that you and I definitely share similar feelings about marketing to our audience. I think that more people resonating a clear and user-friendly approach of leading by example and sharing with the masses is a good thing. I know that as a somewhat newcomer to the online marketing world, I was in constant pursuit of good models to observe and emulate. Having more good examples of “how to” put our information out there in an effective and directed way is not only helpful to the one putting out the message, but it also gives the newcomers a better chance to follow success’ clues.

I hope that you have an awesome week! Please come back again soon, Samantha!

Hi Cat,

What a great article! As someone who’s fairly new to the online world, I definitely agree that one of the biggest struggles is having a focus or strategy to your efforts. I also think as a newbie, this is one of the hardest things to actually formulate. It’s hard to have any idea of how you want to focus until you actually get out there and do it for a while. That time and experience is critical to defining how you’re going to attack this huge internet world.

Thanks for providing some great tips and some areas to focus on to improve my marketing efforts. I hope you have a great end to the week!

Hi Barry,

Thanks for the awesome feedback and praise! :) I’m glad you enjoyed the article!

You’re so right about the experiential element to finding a flow in what we do here in the online world. So much theory is out there and all though theory can be very helpful for us to learn along the way, nothing beats actual time spent “DOING.” I relate this to an experience I had as a teen, learning to drive a “stick shift.” Yeah, it was helpful to hear about how it all worked and what I would expect, but nothing compared to the experience of holding the stick in my hand and feeling the clutch under my foot. There’s a balancing factor that we must simply learn via applied practice.

Things move and change always. If we’re outside of the movement, all we bring is conjecture. While we’re “in it” something magical happens because we are now connected to it. This sounds very mystifying and it surely can be a big place to get caught up in, so we should always try to have a strategy in hand so we don’t get caught up in diversions from our original goal at hand. It is a delicate negotiation!

Hope you had an excellent week, Barry! Thanks for bringing such a worthy and insightful comment – you made responding fun! :D

Best to ya,

Thanks to you for coming back. ;) I appreciate the responsiveness. Just basically wanted to share that other article with you in case you missed it – I felt it might be of interest considering your last comment here.

I think that what you said about people taking advantage is spot on. Where we have ignorance about an alluring subject where people may assume money may be made on one or both sides of the deal, we have a prime location for predatory activity to take place. Unfortunately, there are some folks who are willing and able to exploit these situations to benefit themselves alone.

I’m not against anyone’s privilege to make money, but I don’t like to see it happen in dishonest ways. – And let’s face it, some of the marketing we see is not just “clever” marketing, it’s outright dishonesty, some of it ridiculous on it’s own face. I am in agreement with you on that, no doubt.

Well, glad to get connected with you here today. It’s awesome to connect with some like minds, like yourself. I always enjoy engaging in the banter. I hope we can stay connected and grow together. You’re aces in my book!

Highest regards,
